tv tv tv

3 shows you should check out..

1) "Arrested Development" simply perfect.. soon will be canceled by fox since America is too dense to get it or maybe it's too hard to follow all the innuendos and double entendras (maybe I should learn how to spell that)

2) "How I met your Mother" : actually a very good sitcom. Doogie Howser is pretty funny even if he sports a new catch phrase every week

3) "Extras" : I just saw one but it may turn out to be a great show.. It's tough since the accents are pretty serious but Ricky Gervais is simply perfect in his subtle comic role

Just for the record, you're really close: it's "entendre." I'd have more to comment on, but of the things you've mentioned, the only thing I have any experience with is the English language. I haven't really had a lot of time for t.v. (although, for some odd reason, I've decided to watch the eternal spoiled teenager fest of ANTM, and The Biggest Loser). Gotta love me...

Yup.. Top Model is on my list too.. THough it competes with a lot of other shows I'm watching and even with 2 tivos it's tough to get it recorded.. i've so far seen show 2 where AShley gets the boot..

Has anyone here seen the movie The Extra? It's an Australian movie that stars an Irish comedian called Jimoen (he's actually setup camp in Australia). It's funny but it might not work in America due to reduced brain capacity as a result of too many damn reality TV shows.

It's about an extra who dreams of one day becoming a real movie star only to find that he's just so invisible that he can't make it big.

There's an American version of it but the truth is America has a nasty way of destroying really good concepts - Mr Bean movie (based on the series but crap translation because Americans made it), It's a Man's World (based on Men Behaving Badly but once again crap translation because American humour is so pathetic).

I'm not trying to trash America but if you look at the original programs/movies and then the remakes you'll quickly see what I'm getting at.

A) BBC America when you watch it makes you realize how stupid american television is.

B) I was pretty amazed that the Office (american) was as good as it was. I was more amazed that it didn't get cancelled since it really had that offbeat humor that most americans don't enjoy

I've got Extras on my Tivo and haven't gotten around to it yet. For British shows (and that includes HBO's Rome) I like to turn on the closed captioning and read the captions. Helps understanding the accents.

I should have thought of that idea with the Closed captioning.. good one..

also, I've got a ton of crap on the tivo that I haven't gotten to.. just finally last night started amazing race.. can you say "annoying families"?
